Chris is signed up to ride Rapha’s Cent Cols Challenge, specifically the Southern Alps Challenge.  The ride is 10 days and covers 1200 miles and has more than 150,000ft of climbing!  Last year, on one of the other Cent Cols rides, he managed to ruin a carbon rim thanks to brake heat due to all the descending, so this year he wanted a nice set of alloy do-it-all rims.  They need to be light weight to help get up the mountains, but also need to be stiff and have great braking capabilities (in any weather condition) for descending.  We used the new updated Pacenti SL23 rims.  They’re wide, tubeless ready, light, and stiff, with a very nice machined brake track.  The hubs are White Industries T11’s – made in the USA, titanium freehub body, and fantastic bearings.  Sapim CX-Ray spokes and alloy nipples hold it all together, with 24 radial laced spokes on the front and 28 laced 3-cross on the rear.  Enjoy the wheels and the trip Chris!
